This was a BIG ship!
The main body of the USS SOUTH DAKOTA museum is in the back ground. The barriers on the sides of this photo replicate the outline of this great ship.
BIG GUNS! 16"
As I understand, this type of 16 inch gun holds two records relating to World War II combat history.
Also can cover a range of 40,180 yards (36,740 m) and the gun barrel itself weighs and amazing 192,310 pounds! (Awesome ground plane!)
In the photo here are my sons. Anthony who just arrive home from a tour in IRAQ and Clayton "KDØDJE" who is in high school.
